Dr. Richard Raines founded MetroCare in 1983.  He had a vision that the business of practicing medicine in Memphis could be improved by physicians helping physicians.  Today, our business has grown far more complex and the challenge of remaining clinically successful leaves precious little time for a physician to ensure his or her own financial success.  This means Dr. Raines’ vision for MetroCare is even more relevant today than it was 25 years ago. 

There is no other physician organization in Memphis that offers the platform of services delivered by MetroCare or our joint venture company, Health Choice.  As an organization, we have enjoyed over 20 years of partnership with Methodist Le Bonhuer Healthcare to operate Health Choice.  It hasn’t always been easy to forge common ground but we have reaffirmed our commitment that we can accomplish more for physicians working together with our partner.

It has never been more challenging for physicians and hospitals to agree on the issues and solutions.  Mismatched incentives and today’s economy can drive partners in opposite directions.  Our joint venture, Health Choice, offers an important place where doctors and hospitals can come together as equals to find common solutions.  MetroCare leaders ensure a strong voice in Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare strategies and operations.

Your MetroCare leaders have other substantial venues to influence, educate and lead on your behalf.  Whether that includes other boards for area hospitals, their elected medical staffs or the medical society, we consistently represent the physician voice in healthcare in Memphis.
We at MetroCare are proud of our accomplishments but humbled by what remains to be done.  Physician practices are in danger and under assault from many sides.  We remain committed to finding ways to promote, support and improve your opportunity for success.  I urge you to take advantage of the resources at your disposal through your organizations, MetroCare and Health Choice.
