History

MetroCare was organized in 1983 by a group of 80 physicians practicing in Shelby County. This initial group of physicians shared a vision of providing high quality, cost-effective medical care to the employees of our community and as well as other communities in the Mid South.

Since then, MetroCare has grown to become one of the country's largest IPA's and now provides the physician panel representation for over 100 different employers, insurance companies and HMO's. From its initial formation, MetroCare has always adhered to rigorous standards of professional credentialing and continuing education for its members.
